Here all our latest news will be posted, so please keep coming back and see how
we have been getting on.
June 2009
This month we had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy Harley (Bumblyn Noah
Claypole). He was only 9 years old, and has left a huge gap in the household. We
miss him terribly, see him web page to view our tribute to such a special boy.
May 2009
This has been a busy month in the household, what with house decorating,
doggie lodgers and my own University exams, everything has been a bit hectic! I
apologise for the lack of show results, but the site is now up to date. Thank
you everyone that has sent me results, I do try and get the results on line as
quickly as possible, but sometimes time is not on my side! You may notice a new
link on the home page for the Southern Flatcoated Retriever Club (Proposed), this page will
list events that will be run by the club, you are also able to download a
membership form, if you wish to join, it is well worth it, so give it a go!
April 2009
At the Flatcoated Retriever Society Championship Show on the 4th April,
Madison won Mid Limit Dog under Val Jones (Braemist), this is only the
second time he has been in this class, since qualifying out of Post Graduate.
The first time he was entered in Mid Limit was at Crufts, where he came 4th
under Roger Millbank (Larksdown).
February 2009
We asked Ann Kilminster (Withybed) to do a painting of Madison as she is
known for her beautiful animal and in particular Flatcoat paintings, and she did
this amazing canvas of him. Click on the thumbnail below for a larger image.
January 2009
Madison has had a wonderful couple of shows so far, just before Christmas he
won Open and Best of Breed at Guildford under Lyn Strudwick, a few weeks later
he again won Open and Best of Breed, this time at Buckinghamshire under Andy
Osbourne-Brown. At the same show Jive also won Junior ! This happened in the
same weekend that I found out that I had passed my first lot of exams for my
degree that I am undertaking at University ... so a fabulous weekend was had !
September
2008
As of the 20th September I will be attending University in London, as of such it
may take me a little longer to update the open show results of this website, I
will continue to endeavour to get the results online as quickly as possible. But
please bear with me, as I will continue to try and do my very best !

We had to make the very hard decision to have our beautiful Ember (Gemswin
Eternal Flame at Harlistream) put to sleep to end any further suffering. She was
only 6 years old, we miss her terribly, she has left a huge void in the house.
We are very proud of her children, and thank Gemma and Sue Knight for letting us
have such a sweet beautiful girl.
May 2008
At Harlistream we are very
proud of a very clever Gina also known as Harlistream Manhattan Maid (Withybed
New Yorker at Harlistream x Gemswin Eternal Flame at Harlistream). Gina along
with her owner and handler Penny, won Novice Dog/ Novice Handler at the
Southern Area Working Test in May 2008. Many congratulations to Penny and Gina
!!!

did very well ! It was her first Championship Show at the tender age
of 6 months and 2 weeks, under Brian Izzard she won Minor Puppy
Bitch and Best Puppy Bitch, and then under Sally McComb she went
Best Puppy In Show. She won a beautiful sash, many trophy's and a
bottle of champagne, we are very proud of our little girl.

(Colona). He won Post Graduate Dog and then went on to win the Reserve Challenge
Certificate !!!!!!!!!!!! on the same day his half brother Withybed Drummer JW
bred and owned by Ann Kilminster won the Challenge Certificate thus making him a
Show Champion !!! I would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages we
have received ............. thank you xx
November 2007
Madison has had a busy few weeks ! First he went to the United Retriever
Club Open Show under Maureen Millbank (Larksdown), there he won Post Graduate
Dog and Reserve Best Dog. Then we went to Hampshire Gundog Society Open Show
under Pam Lynott (Avening) where he won Post Graduate and then went Best of
Breed ! With Christmas fast approaching, the shows are slowing down, we only
have two more for the rest of year, which is just as well seeing as how cold it
is getting early in the morning ! So if anybody is going to shows that we
aren't, I would love the results to add to this site. If you don't want to type
all the results (which can take forever..... I know !!) then you can always just
scan in the pages from the catalogue and email them to me (just make sure that
you add in judge, date and name of show, and also the owners of the dogs, if
they are not printed next to the name). I would like to thank everyone for
sending me results, I do really appreciate it, as I can't get to all the shows,
especially if they are in the midlands and further north ! So Thank you
everybody ..... you know who you are !!

in the end - although he showed his socks off and we were really pleased with
him as well. Both our boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and can’t believe it
is over for another year.
February 2007
Below is a photo of yours truly at the Chocolate Bar in Harrods, London.
I know it isn’t doggy related but - come on its chocolate ! I definitely would
recommend a visit there, especially as I was sitting next to a large vat of
melted milk chocolate !!! Hence the grin !
18th December 2006
Madison has won the November 2006 Brave Heart Award at our Veterinary Surgery.
This award is in recognition of outstanding bravery during a serious illness or
injury. He was nominated by vet David Bolton who operated on Madison when he got
a teddy bear’s leg stuck in his gut. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank our vet David and all the veterinary nurses (especially Lindsay) at the
Archway Veterinary Practice in Petersfield, Hampshire; for their expert care of
our special boy Madison. It’s hard to believe, but Madison adores going to the
vets now, and always try’s to jump over the reception desk to get to Lindsay and
the other veterinary nurses !
Madison is now back on top form, and can’t wait to get back in the show ring. He
will be going to Manchester Champ in January with his Aunty Gemma. So look out
for the ‘Mad’ whirlwind !

14th November 2006
Ten days ago Madison (Withybed New Yorker at Harlistream) had to have an
emergency operation to remove an object that was stuck in his gut. The object
turned out to be a teddy bears leg ! Madison is now doing very well and is
having his stitches out tomorrow. We would like to thank everyone that has
emailed and called, and especially to some people that sent Madison a ‘get well’
card !! We hope that Madison will be back in the ring in January (or sooner if
he has anything to do with it !) How do you stop a Flatcoat with stitches from
bouncing up and down ?? I guess that is one of life's little mysteries !
